START WITH THE NOTES

Your tuning, at a glance.

Standard low-B five-string bass · lowest to highest

  1. 5B
  2. 4E
  3. 3A
  4. 2D
  5. 1G

The extra low B sits below a four-string bass’s E. Some five-string instruments use a high C instead; check your string set and intended tuning.

A simple way to start.

  1. Choose your five-string tuning and allow microphone access.
  2. Rest your fingers on the unused strings so only one note rings.
  3. Pluck the open low B gently and let the reading settle before adjusting.
  4. Work through E, A, D, and G. Recheck the whole set after your first pass.

A few good questions.

Why is the low B harder to read?

A very low note can give a microphone less usable signal than the higher strings. Move the phone closer, mute other strings, and try a steady, gentle pluck before changing the tuning.

Can I change the reference pitch?

The Android listing confirms an adjustable A4 reference. Match the reference used by the musicians you are playing with.

Can I practice with a metronome?

The Android app includes a metronome. Feature availability can differ by platform; check your store listing before downloading.
